About the Author:

Nandini Mitra was born in 1964, an Aquarian, 2 days shy of valentine's day and Banerjee was added in 1994. As the name implies, I was born into the sweet language of Bengali household. Since childhood I loved literature and my parents inculcated a love for bengali through a very innovative way. I was schooled in english medium with Hindi as second language only and no bengali was available as an option then. During the grand annual festival of DURGA Puja, every year, sets of Bengali story books for children and grown ups would be launched in West Bengal, India and my father would make a special trip to Calcutta (Kolkata) from Delhi just to get those new books. Both my parents being avid readers and the absence of any kind of digital gadgets except a handheld radio gave me all the time in the world to delve into the unknown mysterious worlds of the thrilling stories.!
Life was beautiful and my English teacher at Calcutta Girls High School, Mrs Mullick, particularly encouraged me by her poignant sarcastic comments.I used to ace 6.5 to 8/10 which was then extraordinary from Mrs. Mullick, but once I got a 5/10 and she threw the copy back at me barking: "have you forgotten your English?" That is when I realized, though she was very very strict, she actually liked and encouraged my style of writing and the fact that I could write..! Thereafter, I started putting extra effort and developed an undying love for literature which turned me into a voracious reader. I still remember spending hours in Basanti Devi College library to gather notes for Macbeth.
Then the dreaded day arrived. I had to choose between science and arts in the 11th grade and though I had the highest marks in English that year and exact same number in Math, I had to opt for science for my career. Mrs. Mullick was very sad and I was devastated but in childish naive optimism I thought I could carry on with my beloved subject. Little did I know..!

Upon touching the golden milestone of half century, Life offered me another chance to rekindle my lost love and here I am.
Lost are the carefree days where parents shielded from all responsibilities, leaving me a free bird to pursue my hobbies. So amidst my chores, whenever a moment is found, I am trying to share the blessings in case it helps anyone.
